Escape to Happiness

Project vision:
To develop adult education concepts and methods based on restoring well-being in uncertain times.

Identified Problem:
The COVID-19 pandemic, armed conflicts in Europe, and the rapid transformation of society have intensified mental health struggles. The 40-60 age group, targeted by adult education programmes, faces difficulties in adapting to changes across various areas, including family and professional dynamics, along with challenges posed by workplace digitalisation. These factors increase insecurity and personal dissatisfaction, negatively affecting participation in educational programmes and sometimes leading to early dropout. Adult education organisations are thus confronted with challenges like low motivation, reduced impact on participants, and educator stress due to unmet goals.

Our solution:
The project addresses these challenges by developing a methodology for adult educators aimed at promoting participants’ happiness and personal satisfaction. It introduces an innovative tool — the “dissatisfaction escape room” — to be used at the beginning of each training programme. This methodology will be made available to adult educators and other sectors (such as youth workers, teachers, and social workers), aiming to create a foundation of well-being and motivation for participants to engage more actively in subsequent educational processes.

Target groups:
1. Adult educators
2. Adults aged 18+, with a focus on those between 40 and 60
