Project Vision:
The vision of our project is to help students think creatively and solve problems independently to thrive in an uncertain future.
Identified Problem:
Technology is rapidly changing, and the world of work has changed with it. Many jobs from the past have already disappeared, and many have evolved. It is difficult to predict what life will be like in ten or twenty years because no one knows how quickly technology will develop by then. Our current society may also change dramatically before our eyes. However, there is research and speculation about the skills children will need in the future. Schools have not yet responded to this new knowledge. Drills and practical exercises are no longer practical because they are not engaging or encouraging children. As a result, valuable skills are missing in the current workforce, such as problem-solving, innovation, collaboration, and others. Many experts have predicted that this is essential for success in today’s society. (Euro Lex: http://bit.ly/EurLexSkills, Economic Forum: http://bit.ly/FutureJobSkills). We can use this research as a direction in the current educational system and better prepare our children for the future, ahead of time.
Our Solution:
As presented, many future jobs require creative problem-solving and communication skills, so students will need to work and collaborate with and within teams and present information to others. The solution requires:
-Providing teachers with the necessary methodology (moving away from traditional pedagogy)
-Introducing fun and engaging problem-solving challenges for students during classes.
-These learning situations should resemble ‘real-world work situations’ adapted to the school environment. Teachers need to inspire creativity and team formation for success in future careers that require these skills.
Target Groups:
1. Teachers of 11 – 14-year-olds
2. Students, 11 – 14 years old
